GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno Youth today handed over a memorandum to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad demanding for Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's resignation pending the corruption trial against him.
Its chief Rafizal Abd Rahim said the demand came following Lim's  signing of the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) today which indirectly proved he was free of corruption.
"When he signed the IBR, indirectly he is showing that he is clear of any misconduct and corruption. As such we ask the chief minister to resign as soon as he signs the IBR," he told reporters after handing over the memorandum here today.
Earlier, Lim led the pledge and signed the IBR with 10 additional integrity measures at Auditorium A, Tun Abdul Razak Complex (Komtar), here which was witnessed by Dzulkifli.
Rafizal added that, among others, they have urged the MACC to assist in expediting the process for the corruption trial involving the chief minister.
On June 30 last year, Lim pleaded not guilty to charges of corruption in the conversion of land status from agriculture to housing and the purchase of a plot of land and bungalow at below market value. — Bernama
