Police close in on trio for allegedly robbing mobile phone shop

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are closing in on three men for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery at a mobile phone shop in Bandar Sri Permaisuri here last Wednesday.
Cheras district police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said in the 7.41pm incident, the suspects – two of whom were wearing helmets while another spotted with a cap – entered the premises before they threatened two female employees at knife point.
"The suspects had instructed the employees to open the cash register machine. They also took away mobile phones from the display cabinet before fleeing the scene in a car," he said in a statement here today.
Chong said police had identified all the suspects based on the 60-second closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras recording at the premises which went viral on social media.
Both the employees were unhurt, he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
