Sandakan police smash robbery gang

SANDAKAN: Sandakan police have busted a robbery gang with the arrest of eight men, including one who impersonated as a policemen, in a special operation conducted over the past two weeks.
Its chief ACP Mohd Azhar Mohd Hamin told a press conference here today that 27 crime cases involving house break-ins, property and motorcycle theft and robberies had been solved with the arrest of the eight, six locals and two foreigners, aged 18 to 38.
He said seven of them tested positive for syabu and that 98 stolen items including a motorcycle and two cars and motorcycle used by the culprits for their criminal activities were seized in the operation.
Losses suffered by the victims amounted to RM109,455 while the total value of the seized items was  RM176,040 , he said, adding that the bogus policemen used the Beetalk app to befriend victims before robbing them.
He added that police also seized an imitation pistol from one of the suspects. — Bernama
