Cops warn of stern action after 3 children get locked home alone

JOHOR BARU: The police will not compromise in throwing the rule book at parents or caretakers who abuse children or neglect their responsibilities.
This comes after a photo showing three children who were locked home alone in a rented room in Larkin while their parents were at work, went a viral on social media
State police chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said it was unfair that these children undergo such abuse and torture and warned that stern action will be taken against the guilty party.
According to the Facebook post, the children had not bathed for days and were only eating rice with ketchup.
The two boys and one girl are aged between one and six years old.
The parents are believed to be working and leaving the children alone, with faeces all over the place.
According to the post, it is understood that the childrens parents worked at a factory in Gelang Patah and it was the responsibility of the father to care for the children.
Wan Ahmad said a report had since been lodged based on the viral postings and police will investigate the case under Section 3 of the Child Act 2001.
Following the Facebook post, the Johor Welfare Department and policemen from the Larkin district went to the premises.
The children have since been moved to a daycare centre at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
Earlier, the state top cop said sports helped promote "spirit de corps"at the opening ceremony of a bowling tournament for the Johor Police Family Association (Perkep) Chairman Cup in Johor Jaya, near here, today.
