Johor Royal wedding: Childhood friends not forgotten
JOHOR BARU: With the date of the Johor Royal wedding coming close, the question now is who will be on the invitation list to the exclusive event.
Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim is due to marry Dutch national Dennis Muhammad Abdullah on Aug 14.
It is understood that the guest list will be full of names of royalty, politicians, senior government officials and noted businessmen.
However, there will also be places for people who are special to the only daughter of Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar - the palace staff who had looked after and been by her side since she was a little girl.
This includes the riding coaches who taught Tunku Aminah how to ride a horse, the drivers who took her to school, and members of the Johor Military Force (JMF), and the personal bodyguards of the Royal Family.
"I grew up with these people and they are very special to me. I want them to all be there on the wedding day to share my happiness," said the princess to the Royal Press Office.
The interview with Tunku Aminah was released to the media through the Royal Press Office which is the official media and communications office of the Johor Royal family.
Tunku Tun Aminah who is the only daughter of the Sultan and Permaisuri of Johor, grew up with five brothers at Istana Pasir Pelangi.
"The drivers and personal bodyguards who were with me often reminded me that I was the only daughter of Tuanku Sultan, and advised me to be a good person. Every day after school, I would go with my brothers for horse-riding practice and would eat at the stalls with them.
"Other than the horse-riding coaches, I also want to invite the other palace staff who looked after us. They were a part of my childhood and taught me the values of serving with dedication, loyalty and goodness," said Tunku Aminah.
To commemorate the wedding, long-serving staff of the palace would get a special gift which had been specially designed by the Johor princess herself. — Bernama
