KUALA LUMPUR: The 'Malaysia-Taiwan Street Dance-Off' on Saturday evening had the audience in awe and wanting for more as Taiwan's HRC BBoy took on Malaysia's Music Talk Studio Unity Crew at Wisma MCA on Saturday.
The battle between the two was part of the many activities held in conjunction of the ongoing Blossom Art Festival Malaysia 2017 (BAFM 2017), organised by MCA's Malaysian Chinese Cultural and Arts Consultative Committee.
During the dance-off, Music Talk Studio Unity Crew, the 2016 Asia K-Pop Dance Competition second runner-up, treated the audience to some smooth and elegant dance routines.
After witnessing some sleek dancing, those present were treated to some awesome break dance moves by HRC BBoy who had represented Taiwan in many showcases and competitions, one of which was the Battle of the Year (BOTY) World Competition where the group was named second runner-up.
Commenting on the wonderful performances, Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia representative James Chang Chi-ping told reporters he was amazed with the performances of the two groups.
"The dance-off not only provides a good opportunity for the two groups to exchange their knowledge and experience but at the same time it also helps to enhance the existing bilateral ties between Taiwan and Malaysian youths.
"Additionally, this dance-off also helps to further promote the Taiwan government's New Southbound Policy that stresses on cultural and talent exchange between Taiwan and countries in the Southeast Asian region," Chang said.
Asked who he thought had a more outstanding performance, Chang said both groups had in fact put up a superb show.
"If you want me to give marks to them then I would say it's full marks for both groups," he added.
