SARIKEI: The youths in Sarawak have been urged to obtain detailed information on their positions and roles in the state development agenda directly from the government to enable them to contribute positively and effectively.
State Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said only by knowing their positions and the roles they had to play, the youths could actually contribute positively and effectively to the development of the state.
"To know your position in the government agenda is your right. How can the youths contribute to the development to the best of their ability if they are not aware of their positions and their roles? " he said this in his speech at the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (Tegas) Youth Forum titled "Youth as Future Changemaker" at Dewan Suarah near here today.
Approximately 800 youths from Sarikei, Belawai, Mukah, Sibu, and Saratok attended the one-day forum themed Innovate Sarawak (#InnovateSarawak).
Len Talif, who is also Tegas chairman, said Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg had entrusted Tegas to develop the Digital Village in Samajaya, Kuching, with an RM30 million allocation for the purpose.
"I have also obtained the approval to use RM3 million of the RM30 million allocation to develop the Tegas Innovation Digital Hub in Kuching," he explained. — Bernama
