Bullying, gangsterism under control

KUALA LUMPUR: Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid announced yesterday that cases related to bullying and gangsterism in schools are under control.
He noted that bullying cases were 0.06% in 2014, followed by 0.07% and 0.02% in 2015, 2016 and the first half of 2017, respectively.
He highlighted measures undertaken by the ministry, which included collaborating with the police at all levels by involving the National Registration Department, the District Education office and schools, improving the School Liaison Officer programme and increasing the number of police cadets in schools.
Other measures include increasing activities of the Crime Prevention Clubs in both primary and secondary schools, improving the disciplinary complaint system, and cultivating the Caring Teacher's Practice.
Mahdzir issued the statement in a written reply to Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (BN-Tanah Merah).
