Honor-ing premium features in an affordable package

HONOR 8 Pro has finally reached Malaysia after it was originally announced back in April.
A step up from the Honor 8, this 5.7in dual-camera smartphone not only sports a larger and higher resolution 1440x2560-pixel screen, but also runs the latest Android 7.0 Nougat with Emotion UI 5.1.
The Pro also has 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and runs on the HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset.
However, its rear camera – a dual 12MP sensor with large apertures, phase detection and laser autofocus – seems similar to Honor 8.
The two lenses work in tandem to deliver each shot. The monochrome lens captures a black-and-white image with depth of detail, while the RGB lens produces faithful and vivid colour reproduction.
The software within brings the two together.

Available in midnight black and navy blue, the Honor 8 Pro's build looks and feels ­attractive as well as premium, but not unique. It is thin at 6.97mm, and that helps make its large screen fit in the hand.
The 2K display is pleasing to look at and the interface, which has evolved into one of the best in the industry, is as smooth and easy to use as ever.
Honor has made the smartphone VR ready right out of the box with a bundled cardboard viewer, and pre-installed Jaunt VR app.
It also announced an exclusive partnership with the 2017 Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup in Malaysia.
Also, the Honor 8 Pro is fitted with a 4,000mAh battery that is rated for days of regular use, and more than a day of heavy use.
Honor may be marketing this smartphone to gamers, but based on initial impressions and its asking price, the Honor 8 Pro is a complete package that is tough to beat.
The device is now available at vMall, the officially licensed e-store for Honor and Huawei, as well as Honor experience stores and display zones.
The smartphone retails at the competitive price of RM1,999.
