MALACCA: Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) nationwide to execute the "Community Support for School Teachers" programme, an initiative under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).
Education deputy director-general Datuk Dr Amin Senin said the collaboration with UCT was a reform implemented by MOE through the programme that would benefit the infrastructure and services provided at the one-stop community centre.
He said the programme began as a pilot project at the Sentul Mini UTC in Kuala Lumpur and received a positive feedback from the programme's target group.
The teacher's community support programme had long been implemented, but previously its services were offered to students by community members, agencies or non-governmental organisations who came to schools.
"UTC is the best platform to further expand the programme as numerous services or facilities can be obtained here," Amin told reporters after launching the 'MOE-UTC NBOS Initiative' at the Malacca state-level here today.
Also present were Malacca education, higher education, science and technology, green technology and innovation committee deputy chairman Datuk Md Rawi Mahmud and state education director Abu Bakar Sahari.
Elaborating, Amin said the programme greatly benefitted schools located near UTCs and the services required from each school depended on its needs.
He added, the programme also provided training to generate multi-skilled or specifically-skilled human capital.
Meanwhile, Abu Bakar said 13 secondary and primary schools were chosen to participate in the MOE-UTC community programme at a UTC on Jalan Hang Tuah, here.
He said the programme also involved three agencies, namely, the National Population and Family Development Board, Malacca Public Library and the Youth and Sports Department. — Bernama
