China state councilor to visit Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: China's State Councilor Wang Yong will undertake an official visit to Malaysia starting tomorrow until August 10.
The Foreign Ministry said Wang Yong would be attending the East Coast Rail Line project (ECRL) ground breaking ceremony, which will take place in Kuantan, Pahang on August 9, as the special representative of President Xi Jinping.
During his visit, Wang is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and make a site visit to Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP).
"During the courtesy call, Wang is expected to discuss matters relating to Malaysia-China bilateral cooperation as well as on the Chinese investments and projects in Malaysia," the ministry said in a statement, here today.
The Foreign Ministry said Wang is one of five China's State Councilors who is at the highest level of state administration.
He is also the head of the state-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission since 2010, it said.
This visit, which would be Wang's second to Malaysia, reflected the close relations that both countries enjoyed and the desire to further strengthen these relations, the statement said. — Bernama
