"THE Heriot-Watt campus in Edinburgh is filled with diversity – from its people to its food and facilities! I was really excited to be able to visit the Neuropsychology laboratories there, as we do not have those in the Malaysia campus," enthused Ghazlina Poedjo, a BSc (Hons) Psychology with Management student. She was part of a group of students from Heriot-Watt University Malaysia's School of Social Sciences (SoSS) who flew to the UK for a two-week study trip to the university's main campus in Edinburgh recently.
"It was interesting as I always had something new to look forward to including, of course, the many beautiful sights around Scotland," added Ghazlina. In fact, those who participated in the study trip hoped that this initiative will continue, and some of them have even professed an interest in participating in the university's Go Global programme.
Go Global is an inter-campus transfer programme that offers Heriot-Watt students the opportunity to transfer to any of the university's campuses in the UK, Dubai or Malaysia as long as their programme of study is offered there. This option is open to those who have completed their foundation studies and are continuing with their undergraduate studies, as well as current undergraduate students.
Fraser Scott, an MA (Hons) International Business Management student who transferred from the UK campus to the Malaysia campus recently shared: "I felt privileged to have studied in the Malaysia campus. No doubt it was an amazing experience! This year, I look forward to studying with our friends from Malaysia back in Scotland"!
With a legacy that can be traced back to the 1800s, Heriot-Watt University is renowned for its international outlook as well as world-class teaching and research.
In fact, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-2017, which is based on the percentage of the university's international staff, the level of international co-authorship of academic papers and the percentage of international students studying at the university, Heriot-Watt is ranked 39th in the world, 13th in the UK and second in Scotland for its international outlook.
