SETIU: The Malaysian Marine Parks Department (JTLM) today received recognition from the Malaysia Book Of Record (MBR) after planting 8,300 corals in the country's six marine parks under its coral restoration programme.
The planting was conducted simultaneously in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of JLTM and the World Oceans Day 2017 celebration.

The six areas were Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian in Terengganu; Pulau Tinggi in Johor; Pulau Tioman, Pahang, Pulau Payar, Kedah and the marine park in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the achievement of 8,300 corals surpassed the initial target of 7,200.
"The programme was made possible with the help of JTLM staff as well as divers from other government agencies and non-governmental organisations," he said after launching the planting programme at Pulau Redang.
Also present were JTLM director-general Datuk Dr Sukarno Wagiman and MBR office manager Lee Pooi Leng. — Bernama
