KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has urged lawmakers to author their aspirations and arguments in Parliament into published works.
"There are lawmakers who are good in debating but they don't know how to write. They might have an idea but to put it into words will not be an easy task.
"The situation differs with media practitioners, this (writing) is like a toy to them, sometimes the words that they write can be translated to mean various things," Pandikar said when launching a book titled 'Dasar Buku Negara dan TN50' ( National Book Policy and Transformation 2050) held at the Parliament building here.
The book was authored by Budiman Mohd Zohdi (Sungai Besar-BN) and it contains documentary reference and guidelines on the development of the National Book Policy.
Budiman, who is also the Institute of Translation and Books Malaysia (ITBM) chairman, said the book contains information on efforts to upgrade the National Book Policy to be in line with TN50.
The book is a continuity of the calls made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V on March 14 this year to explain about the needs to change the National Book Policy which has been in use since 1980.
