M'sia all set to host SEA Games: Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is ready to host the SEA Games and Asean Para Games (KL 2017) said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
"All the venues are ready and now the process of putting in the sporting equipment is in progress.
"Our athletes also has used the sporting venues to familiarise themselves before the actual event," Khairy said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
The 29th SEA Games will be held from Aug 19-30 while the 9th Asean Para Games will be held from Sept 17-23.
On safety, Khairy said KL2017 security committee, which is chaired by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has beefed up its security, as well as initiated the "Ex-Rimau" crisis management operations for the upcoming games at several tournament venues.
Khairy said the Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (Masoc) has succeeded in surpassing the initial sponsorship target of RM80 mil as it has garnered more than RM100 mil.
He said the Malaysian Olympic Council (MOC) has selected 874 athletes from 38 sporting events to compete at all 398 events which will be contested in KL2017.
