PUTRAJAYA: A divorced man was slapped with another 444 charges of raping and sodomising his 15-year-old daughter.
The 36-year-old man had claimed trial to the offences at the Special Court for Sexual Crimes against Children, yesterday.
On Wednesday, the accused, a unit trust agent, whose name is withheld to protect the identity of the victim, was charged with 182 charges.
Out of the 182 charges: 150 are sodomy charges, 30 counts of physical sexual assault, one charge of incest and one charge of sexual abuse.
In total, the father was charged with 626 charges, out of which 594 charges were sodomy charges.
The man is alleged to have committed the 444 offences at an apartment in Sg.Way, between Jan to Feb, 2017 and April, May, June and July 20, 2017.
The 150 sodomy charges on Wednesday were committed in March 2017.
The sodomy offences were allegedly committed at specific hours; from 6am to 7am, 1pm and 2pm and 11pm and 12 midnight, everyday, from Jan 20, 2017 to July 20, 2017, except for a few days in the month of May, which is between May 25 and May 27.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Aimi Syazwani Sarmin told the court the maximum jail sentence for the charge of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature under section 377C of the Penal Code is 20 years jail and whipping.
Aimi objected to the granting of bail, telling the court that the victim is the daughter of the accused.
"If bail is given, the accused could run away as there are many charges and he could disturb the prosecution witnesses, especially the victim," said Aimi.
When the court interpreter asked the accused if he had anything to say about bail, he asked for a lower quantum.
Sessions judge Yong Zarida Sazali, however, did not grant bail.
Aimi then asked the court to fix a mention date, pending the completion of the medical report.
The judge fixed mention on Sept 18.
