LABUAN: Member of Parliament for Labuan Datuk Rozman Isli (pix) has paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi over development issues relating to Malaysia's international financial centre of Labuan.
The meeting held yesterday at Ahmad Zahid's office in Parliament, included briefing him on the various issues affecting the island and the people.
"I wish to thank the DPM for his time despite his hectic schedule, he was able to free his time to listen to the island's predicament," Rozman told Bernama when contacted in Kuala Lumpur today.
Rozman, who is also the Labuan Corporation chairman, said Zahid was briefed on various development issues, among others, on the island's potential tourism sector progress and performance.
"Being the newly-formed Labuan Special Task Force chairman, I also briefed him about the soon-to-be-launched Labuan Development Blueprint, detailing the future development for the island.
Rozman said he would also be highlighting several short term measures taken during the taskforce meeting to Zahid's attention to help alleviate the economic difficulties currently faced by people, who lost jobs due to the downturn in the oil and gas sector and global economy in general. — Bernama
