KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 11,368 summonses were issued in the three-day Ops Bersepadu Had Laju being conducted since Thursday nationwide.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department principal assistant director Supt Mustafa Bakri Salleh said the summonses issued involved offences such as driving exceeding speed limits and not possessing driver's licence.
"We find that offences relating to speed limit are still high and despite various warnings and reminders being given, road users still failed to adhere to regulations imposed in certain areas.
"This operation is specifically to educate road users to be more discipline," he said in a media conference on the integrated operation here late last night.
Mustafa Bakri said Ops Bersepadu Had Laju was conducted by 64 officers and 583 personnel from the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), National AntiDrugs Agency (NADA), Immigration Department, Department of Environment and PLUS.
"Such an operation will be implemented all the time and it can reduce the rate of fatal accidents," he added. — Bernama
