Number of flood victims in Malacca declines as of 8am

MALACCA: The number of flood victims in Malacca has declined to 94 people as of 8am from 98 people last night.
Malacca Civil defence Forces director Lt col (PA) Effendy Ali said all the evacuees from 24 families were still being housed at three relief centres in Jasin and Alor Gajah districts.
The flood victims are from three affected villages, namely Kampung Tehel and Kampung Tersusun Seri Mendapat in Jasin as well as Kampung Seri Jeram in Alor Gajah.
"The two relief centres operating in Jasin are at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tehel dan Balai Raya Seri Mendapat, which houses 67 people from 18 families, and at Balai Raya Seri Mendapat involving 10 people from two families," he said in a statement here today.
Effendy, who is also Malacca State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat head, said 17 people from four families are being housed at Balai Raya Kampung Seri Jeram in Alor Gajah. — Bernama
