Rubber smallholders in Sarawak received assistance totalling RM41.2m: Nanta

SONG: A total of 13,182 rubber smallholders in Sarawak have benefited from RM41.2 million allocated by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry via the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) for this year's rubber replanting programme.
Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said the allocation covered 1,802 hectares of land for the current replanting programme and 23,843ha for the extended replanting programme.
Of the numbers, the Sibu Division Risda office which covers the Sibu, Kapit and Mukah districts, received RM11.08 million in total under the current and extended replanting programmes involving 5,121ha and 1,700 smallholders, he said when officiating the Sibu Division "Kasihi Pekebun Risda" 2017 ceremony in Nanga Kebiau near here today.
Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, said the numbers included 1,038ha land and 539 participants in the parliamentary constituency. — Bernama
