Woman slashed by son

JOHOR BARU: A woman was found in a pool of blood with her throat slashed, believed to be by her son, in the kitchen of her house at Jalan Cempaka, Taman Air Bemban, near Kulai, here yesterday.
The body of the 69-year-old woman was found at about 11am by her youngest son, who arrived home after returning from work in Singapore, and then lodged a police report.
Kulai district police chief Supt Razak Md Said confirmed the incident and that police had detained a 30-year-old man in the compound of the victim's house a few hours later.
"Following investigation, it is found that the suspect had a history of mental illness and had been treated at the Tampoi Hospital in Johor Baru," he said in a statement issued here today. — Bernama
