NETFLIX has announced the release of the second season of its hit biographical TV drama The Crown, on December 8, 2017. Claire Foy will reprise the role of the British monarch in the new episodes, which will cover ten further years of her reign.
The new decade will be a hectic one for Elizabeth II, who will witness the collapse of the world around her. The Queen will have to contend with political scandals, family dramas, and an occasionally difficult relationship with her husband Philip, played by Matt Smith.
English actress Claire Foy won a Golden Globe in January of this year for her work in The Crown; the Netflix creation also won a second Golden Globe for the best television drama series.
Launched in 2016, The Crown was concocted by two heavy-hitters in the British film industry, Peter Morgan and Stephen Daldry. A historical film specialist, Morgan is best known for having written The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, Frost/Nixon and The Other Boleyn Girl. As for Daldry, he is none other than the director of Billy Elliot, The Hours and The Reader. — AFP Relaxnews
