GEORGE TOWN: Penang Environment, Welfare and Caring Society Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh who is in remand over alleged abuse of power, has been brought by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to his service centre in Sungai Puyu today.
Clad in an orange lock-up uniform, Phee was brought by several anti-graft busters to his centre at about 12.20pm.
The media were seen waiting outside the centre while Phee's constituents expressed solidarity with him when he was brought out at 1.25pm.
"Everything will be alright," exclaimed few of his supporters, in Hokkien, when Phee was led back inside the car.
Phee was handcuffed when he was led in and out from the centre while several documents were taken away by MACC officers.
He was detained after several federal enforcement agencies led by the MACC raided an allegedly illegal carbon filter factory near Kampung Sungai Lembu in Bukit Mertajan, Penang, on Aug 10.
The anti graft agency also detained and remanded two directors of the factory to facilitate investigations.
MACC investigators have also questioned Seberang Prai Municipal Council Licensing Department director Mohd Faidrol Radzi and Enforcement Department director Nazri Abdul Wahab.
