PETALING JAYA: Scalpers are selling tickets to the Bruno Mars 2018 concert in Kuala Lumpur at eight to 10 times their cover prices. The tickets which went on sale at 10am today were all snapped up in just 45 minutes.
The tickets were originally priced between RM398 and RM888 and were sold on www.prworldwidelive.com and www.myticket.asia.
They are available now on reseller sites like Viagogo and StubHub at severely marked-up prices. They are now being sold from RM1,193 up to RM4,256 each. These websites are not authorised by the organiser to sell tickets to the concert.
Category 3 tickets, originally priced at RM398, are being offered at RM3,281.65 each, eight times their original price.
There are offers on e-marketplace Carousell by scalpers for their tickets at RM1,800.
Concert organiser PR Worldwide managing director R. Para has expressed surprise over the overwhelming response. "We expected the tickets to sell out out in a day, but not in 45 minutes. It's a good sign for the music and concert industry, which in turn has a positive impact on the tourism industry, as hotels will be booked."
PR Worldwide issued this statement on its Facebook page shortly after tickets had sold out: "Please stay tuned to www.prworldwidelive.com for any announcement related to any additional capacity that we may offer for sale after consulting with artist production team."
The company also advised fans to refrain from purchasing tickets from unauthorised sellers as they may be voided and refused entry to the venue.
