KUALA LUMPUR: The TN50 Youth Ideation Lab yesterday discussed on seven key elements which had been summarised from the 60,000 aspirations of Malaysian youth for the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).
The lab involving 80 youths with their mentors from the TN50 Future Group, is being held for two days and begand Saturday.
The discussion touched on making cities in Malaysia more resident-friendly through proper planning and design, building a relevant and future-proof education system, and creating a civic-minded society who show mutual respect for one another whether online or face-to-face.
The lab also discussed on the formation of a more cohesive Malaysia with a strong national identity and mutual trust, fostering a health conscious society, making people aware of environmental conservation and getting the people involved in the country's administration in a consistent and systematic manner.
Head of TN50 and Civil Service Delivery Unit at Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Johan Mahmood Merican said the discussion was the key part of the TN50.
"Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak) has initiated a bottom-up engagement with the people.
TN50 will be formulated by the people for the people," he said at the TN50 Youth Ideation Lab here today.
Ideas from this lab will be compiled in the Youth Aspiration Report at the end of the year and will be proposed to the government and expected to kick-off next year if found feasible.
TN50 is an effort to shape Malaysia's future for the period from 2020 to 2050. The Youth and Sports Ministry has been entrusted with the responsibility to muster youths throughout 2017 in the spirit of the TN50 aspiration following the announcement of the 30-year national transformation plan by Najib. — Bernama
