Anti-Drug Agency officer charged with bribery (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: A former National Anti-Drug Agency employee was charged with three counts of soliciting and obtaining bribes amounting to RM3,000 at the Sessions Court today.
Amzar Wahid, 28, is alleged to have obtained the money from two men, as an inducement to settle their preliminary urine screening test
He was charged with two counts of asking RM1,500 each from Shahrulnizam Ramli and Abdul Rashid Jaafar as an inducement not to send the samples which was suspected of containing traces of Amphetamine to the Cure & Care Rehabilitation Centre (CCRC).
Amzar, formerly an assistant with the agency, is alleged to have committed the offences at the National Anti-Drug Agency’s premise in Brickfields about 2pm on Oct 5, 2015.
He claimed trial to all the charges.
Amzar was also charged with obtaining RM3,000 from Abdul Rashid, as an inducement to settle his and Shahrulnizam's case.
He is alleged to have committed the offence at a car park at Block 204, of the Sri Suajaya Kondominium, Jalan Sentul Pasar at about 3.30pm on Jan 7, 2016.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Syakimah Ibrahim suggested bail of RM20,000, however defence counsel Kamarul Zaman Abdul Rahman said the amount was too high.
He urged for bail to be fixed at RM5,000 for all the three charges.
Sessions judge Madihah Harullah granted RM15,000 bail with one surety and fixed Sept 15 for mention.
