PETALING JAYA: Police should take more action to curb illegal gambling dens, says Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran.
"Police should not only raid and seize the equipment, they should arrest the owners of the outlets and also should investigate the main mastermind for these illegal businesses," he said at a press conference today.
He said Petaling Jaya police had conducted "Ops Dadu" raids from 2015 to 2017 in the district.
"In 2015, police raided 2,468 outlets and arrested 1,857 people. In 2016, it was 1,741 raids and 751 arrests. Until July this year, there were 608 raids and 459 arrests," he said.
"We are satisfied with their raids and action taken, but still it is not enough as the operators of these illegal gambling outlets will resume operations soon after," he added.
