BENTONG: A South Korean man sought over the murder of a 92-year-old woman who was beaten to death in a hotel in Genting Highlands was arrested by police in Bukit Tinggi near here on Thursday.
Bentong police chief Supt Mohamad Mansor Mohd Nor said the suspect was arrested by a district CID team near the Tanjung flats in Bukit Tinggi at 2.45pm.
He said police also seized a Perodua Myvi and a cellphone from the suspect.
Police believe the case is solved with the arrest of the foreigner.
On Tuesday, the victim Xiang Lian Jin who is also a South Korean had died of serious injuries allegedly inflicted by her assailant in a room at the hotel.
The man also attacked a local maid who was caring for the elderly victim.
The assailant also set upon Xiang's 46-year-old daughter when she unsuspectingly walked into the room hours later.
Both women suffered bruises and cuts from the assault.
The suspect fled the scene and went into hiding until he was caught today.
Police believe revenge was possibly the motive behind the attack.
Apparently, investigators learnt that there was bad blood between the suspect and Xiang's son over money matters.
