Sultan of Selangor visits KL Sports City

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today visited the Kuala Lumpur Sports City in Bukit Jalil here which is the centre of attraction for the organisation of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 (KL2017).
His arrival at about 10am was greeted by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and members of the top management of Malaysian Resources Corp Berhad (MRCB).
His Highness spent about two hours visiting the main venue of the KL2017 which is the National Stadium besides the National Aquatics Centre and the Axiata Arena.
Sultan Sharafuffin also exchanged souvenirs with Khairy in the form of a book published by the palace while Khairy gave a white-coloured KL2017 shirt to the Ruler.
The Stadium Nasional which had recently been upgraded and renovated would be the main venue for the opening of KL2017 on Aug 19.
The 29th edition of the SEA Games offers 404 events for competition in 38 sports which will end on Aug 30.
MRCB was chosen by the federal government to undertake the sports city project that included the regeneration of the National Stadium and surrounding buildings.
