GEORGE TOWN: A DAP parliamentarian today asked the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to reveal the progress of investigations into a federal agency which allegedly sold land below the market value.
Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik said a report was lodged last year by Penang Exco Dr Afif Bahardin and told the MACC to provide an update.
He asked if the investigation was completed and also asked if the public prosecutor has been consulted.
He urged the MACC Operations Review Panel to look into the case in the interest of the public.
"We want MACC to answer," he said in a press conference today outside the Penang MACC headquarters.
With him was DAP Kampung Kolam branch chairman Teoh Teik Guan and state DAP Youth secretary Tan Jin Tat.
They later handed a memorandum to the MACC on the matter.
In the report last year, it was alleged that plots totalling some 3.4ha at South Seberang Perai were sold for RM1.427million despite the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) valuing those plots at RM16.636 million.
