MALACCA: The Ministry of Tourism and Culture (Motac) expects a 50% increase in tourist arrivals from Asean countries this month as compared to 1.65 million visitors the same time last year due to the Kuala Lumpur  SEA Games (KL2017).
Its deputy minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said this was because not only the athletes and officials would be coming but also family members and fans.
"Besides coming to give moral support to their teams, they would also want to do touring. Industry players should take advantage of this opportunity to promote Malaysia," she said.
She was speaking to reporters after participating in the Eco-trail programme in Ayer Keroh here today.
KL2017 officially opens tomorrow and ends on Aug 30. — Bernama
