Don't make mistake by trusting opposition: Ahmad Bashah

ALOR STAR: The people of Kedah are reminded not to make a mistake by trusting the opposition to helm the state.
Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said such a mistake could cause the people to suffer from the empty promises that had been sown by the opposition.
"Just look at what happened in Pokok Sena Parliamentary constituency when the opposition won in the last general election ... all there had been promised had not been fulfilled.
"So don't repeat the same mistakes. If they (opposition) wins, we are worried in the next five years the people of Pokok Sena will continue to suffer," Ahmad Bashah, who is also Kedah Umno Liaison chairman, said at the Pokok Sena Umno Division Delegates Conference here today.
In the GE13, the Pokok Sena Parliamentary seat was won Datuk Mahfuz Omar from PAS while Bukit Lada state seat was won by Datuk Ahmad Lebai Sudin of the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Bukit Pinang state seat by Romani Wan Salim (PAS).
Ahmad Bashah said the mistake of giving the opposition the mandate to rule could also cause a certain division to lose big allocations from the federal government for the implementation of development works.
"In the Pokok Sena Parliamentary seat alone, we lost RM30 million a year and this led to development works and planning to be disrupted. Before being elected, all sorts of promises were heard by the people but instead, there are no changes or progress.
"Don't make the wrong choice because of the promises they sowed. It is Umno and BN that always listen to the grouses of the people despite differences in political understanding," he said.
He was confident Umno could provide the best for the people of Pokok Sena if it was wrested back in the coming general election. — Bernama
