KOTA KINABALU, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- MCA Sabah is urged to intensify activities so as to be closer to the people, especially in the two state seats allocated to the party under the Barisan Nasional (BN).
Sabah MCA Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the party would work diligently to win the hearts of the people, particularly in Luyang and Kapayan, and subsequently wrest back the two state seats.
“The Sabah MCA Liaison Committee held a meeting, among others, to discuss the preparation for the 14th general election and how to help the BN win the seats in which that we (MCA) were defeated previously,” he told reporters after chairing the meeting here today.
Wee, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, said MCA would work harder with the election machinery of other BN component parties to ensure the seats are won by MCA again.
In the GE13, MCA candidate for Kapayan Datuk Edward Khoo lost to DAP candidate Dr Edwin Bosi while in Luyang, MCA candidate Datuk Agnes Shim was defeated by Dr Hiew King Cheu, who had contested on a DAP ticket but is currently an Independent assemblyman.

After the meeting, Wee also presented a cheque, worth RM200,000, to SRJK (Chinese) Pai Wen in Ranau, which was damaged following the earthquake in the district on June 5, 2015.
“The donation was contributed by Tan Sri Koo Yuen Kim, a Malaysian businessman, who is chairman of the Perfect (China) Company Ltd in China,” he said, adding that Koo had previously donated RM300,000 to the primary school.
