More than 10,000 join Merdeka MyBuddies Run 2017

SERDANG: More than 10,000 Malaysians of various races participated in the Merdeka My Buddies Run 2017 held here today in conjunction with the 60th National Day celebrations on Aug 31.
Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Jailani Johari said the run proved that unity was still intact among multi-racial Malaysians in enhancing the spirit of independence and "Negaraku Sehati Sejiwa" under one event.
"At the same time, the programme also provides exposure to families and communities on healthy and environment-friendly lifestyles," he said after officiating the run here today.
Jailani also urged Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang (national flag) to enhance patriotism and love of the country, as well as appreciate the true meaning of independence.
The Merdeka My Buddies Run 2017 programme was organised by the ministry, together with its agency, MyNIC, which is the national domain name provider.
Also present were ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, MyNIC chairman Datuk Bridget Lai and MyNIC chief executive officer Hasnul Fadhly Hasan. — Bernama
