Najib: We must put the party first

LANGKAWI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has told detractors not to destroy Umno even though they were unhappy with the leadership.
The Umno president said such persons should not destroy the party was Umno was "keramat" (blessed).
He said the party was the most important and even he himself has to put the party first.
He said those who left Umno to form their own political parties in the past were not successful and suffered losses.
"We have to respect and support the current leadership," he said when launching the RM247million People's Housing Project (PPR) in Ulu Melaka and Kuah here.
The project is spread over five 11 storey blocks for a total of 1,000 residential units that would be sold on a rent-to-own scheme. The project is expected to be completed by 2019.
Najib also said a RM9.16million project to upgrade the Sungai Chenang fishing jetty will benefit 400 fishermen.
He also announced a RM5million fund to help improve roads in villages.

Najib also promised that the popular island's duty free status will remain as long as Barisan Nasional (BN) remained in power.
"The economic development of Langkawi is important," he said.
Najib later launched the AirAsia Langkawi to Shenzhen route at the Langkawi International Airport.
AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the route will operate three flights a week.
He said this will boost tourism on the island and allow Langkawi to be further developed as a world class tourist destination.
He said AirAsia has flown over one million tourists to Langkawi aim to hit the three million mark soon.
Other than launching the PPR project and flight route, Najib had opened the Umno Langkawi division delegates meeting and launched the Langkawi Digital Carnival to develop the digital economy in Kedah.
