Sabah consumers urged to report unscrupulous traders

KOTA KINABALU: Consumers in Sabah have been advised to report traders selling counterfeit goods in the market to enable the state chapter of the domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism ministry (KPDNKK) to take action against them.
Sabah Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid said the community should exercise care and empower their rights to ensure that unscrupulous traders did not take advantage by selling counterfeit goods.
"I want consumers to lodge a complaint with the nearest KPDNKK office if they find traders selling counterfeit goods at shops," she told reporters after handing over 1Malaysia water tanks to the Karambunai state constituency here today.
Jainab said this when asked to comment on the success of Sabah KPDNKK in seizing 3,145 units of fake detergent worth RM14,125 in five simultaneous raids in Kota Kinabalu and Keningau on Aug 10.
Meanwhile, the Karambunai assemblyman said the 1Malaysia water tanks were distributed to the low-income group in the constituency.
She said 125 villagers from 23 villages received a water tank each to store clean water for their daily use.
Of the total, 74 villagers from 16 villages received their 1Malaysia water tanks today, while the rest will receive the water tanks at a later date. — Bernama
