LUMUT: A total of RM10,000 was raised at the Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut Charity Fun Run on Aug 13.
The 9km non-competitive fun run was held amidst the lush greenery with an exhilarating beach overlooking the Straits of Malacca.
It was the first fun run event held at the compound of the resort and Damai Laut Golf & Country Club. This single event managed to garner 400 participants from the surrounding areas of Lumut, Manjung, Sitiawan and Ayer Tawar as well as runners from other parts of Malaysia.
Lt Kol Datuk Shaharudin Nazari (Rtd), the Orang Besar Jajahan of Manjung was the guest of honour. Also at the flag-off was Perak MCA Youth chief Ting Tai Fook.
One of the main objectives of the event was to raise funds for Pantai Hospital's Charity Funds Allocation to help provide medical treatment for the needy residents of Manjung District.
Shaharudin handed over a mock cheque to Dr Mohd Norfahmi bin Mohd Sohot, the Chief Operating Officer of Pantai Hospital Manjung.
"Fun will be the experience that we want our guests to bring home with them and to return again for some more of it," the resort's General Manager Patrick Tee said.
"We would like to create public awareness for Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut and Damai Laut Golf & Country Club to become a place where an individual, a couple, a family and even a group of people can come and have fun.
"It is also in line with this that we have taken the lead to organise a Charity Fun Run being Visit Perak Year 2017 and the motto is World of Wonders and Swiss- Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut has all the elements of Fun and Nature and is in itself a World of Wonders."
