FOUR suspected cannibals have been charged with killing and eating a woman after one of them surrendered himself to Estcourt police in South Africa. The man handed over part of a human leg and a hand and more gruesome remains were found in a nearby house.
"I'm tired of eating human flesh," The Daily Mirror of UK reported yesterday, citing local reports.
The traditional healer confessed to raping, killing and butchering a woman with several others. He then led police to a home where they found more remains.
Two more men were arrested on suspicion of murder after the gruesome confession. A fourth suspect faces charges of possessing human flesh and tissues.
Crowds of locals gathered outside the town's magistrates court as the gang aged 22, 29, 31 and 32, appeared in court. They were all remanded in custody and are due to reappear next week.
"Three of the suspects face charges of murder and charges relating to the possession of human organs and tissue," police spokeswoman Captain Charmaine Struwig said.
"A fourth suspect faces charges relating to the possession of human organs and tissue. The three suspects are alleged to have murdered a woman and then cut her body up.
"Allegations are that some consumed some of her flesh while some of her body parts were shared with the fourth suspect in Amangwe.
"Human remains were found at one crime scene in Estcourt and another crime scene at Amangwe.
"At this time only one person is suspected of having been killed and her identity is as yet unknown."
