PETALING JAYA: Wushu exponent Ho Mun Hua gave Malaysia a golden start to the third day of competition at the SEA Games by winning the Nanqua event at KLCC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.
Ho delivered Malaysia's fifth wushu gold. It is his first EA Games gold medal after failing in the four previous campaigns.
Ho scored 9.67 points to edge Pham Quoc Khanh of Vietnam into second place with 9.66. Brunei's Sufi Shayiran Roslan won bronze with 9.65.
Malaysia’s Loh Jack Chang made it two for the wushu team when he won the taijiquan gold.
Malaysia's earlier gold medals in wushu came from three other exponents. Yeap Wai Kin grabbed two from the men's jianshu and qiangshu events while Diana Bong (women's nanquan) and Loh Jack Chang (men's taijijian) landed one each.
Malaysia only managed to claim two gold medals in wushu at the last SEA Games in Singapore two years ago.
