Indonesian faces robbery and murder charges

SHAH ALAM: An Indonesian worker faced both the Magistrates and Sessions courts here today for robbery and murder charges.
Twenty-three-year-old Satria Hidayat from Madura was charged under Section 392 and 302 of the Penal Code for robbing and murdering his employer in a sawmill in Selayang on Aug 5.
He nodded in acknowledgment when both the charges were read before Magistrate Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin and Sessions Court Judge Datuk Ahmad Zamzani Mohd Zain.
Satria, who is also an illegal immigrant, pleaded not guilty for the robbery charge but no plea was recorded for the murder charge.
According to the charges Satria had allegedly murdered Kim Poh, 70, and robbed the woman of her handphone and cash of RM3,000.
Both the crimes were committed at the Summer Media Sdn Bhd sawmill office in Matang Jaya, Kuang, Selayang between 9am and 10am on Aug 5.
If convicted for the charges, he faces the mandatory death penalty under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the murder charge, and a maximum 14-year jail term with fine or whipping or both for the robbery charge under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
Deputy Public Prosecutors Amirah Haziqah Zulkifli and Nur Aifaa Che Abdullah prosecuted. The cases against Satria will be mentioned on Sept 25 and 26.
Meanwhile, the Magistrates Court has sentenced Satria to a three-month jail term under Section 6(c)(1) of the Immigration Act 969/63, after he pleaded guilty for residing in Malaysia without valid documents.
