Khairul Anuar shrugs off fever, delivers

KUALA LUMPUR: Fever did not stop national archer Khairul Anuar from giving his best in the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.
He and partner Nur Aliya Ghapar clinched the silver in the mixed recurve event today. They lost 3-5 to Indonesian pair Diananda Choirunisa and Riau Ega Agata Salsabilla in the final at the Synthetic Turf Field, National Sports Complex here.
Khairul Anuar contracted fever since a week ago but it did not stop him for helping the national squad from picking up a gold, in the men’s team recurve and two silver, in the mixed team and individual.
The senior squad member with 13 years experience under his belt was happy with this year’s outing as he made it to three finals (individual, team and mixed), which is his best performance to date in the SEA Games. 
“I was feeling down and saw the doctor three times but with the backing of the coach and teammates, I psyched up myself to do my best. Of course, I would have been extra happy if we had won all three gold but I have to be satisfied we what we achieved,” the 26-year-old from Terengganu said when met after the recurve events.
Nur Aliya, meanwhile, said she did expect to do this well and was looking forward to better things to come. — Bernama
