GEORGE TOWN: About 12,500 residents of 19 apartment blocks in Taman Terubong Jaya, Paya Terubong here will experience water supply disruption for 10 hours from 9pm on Aug 26, according to the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP).
PBAPP chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said, in a statement, today that the disruption was due to the replacement of two malfunctioning 300mm sluice valves and to service a 300mm altitude control valve.
He said the affected areas included Block 18 and 20 in Taman Terubong Jaya, Block 9 and 11 in Taman Terubong Jaya 1 and Block 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, and 47 in Taman Terubong Jaya 2.
"The 3.86ml water tank will be temporarily shut down to enable the following works to be safely carried out, emptying the tank, replacing two units of 300mm sluice valves that are malfunctioning, servicing one unit of 300mm altitude valve that prevents overflows and refilling the tank, testing the system and normalising water supply," he said.
Jaseni said these water works are necessary to prevent potential mishaps and issues including unscheduled water supply interruptions in Taman Terubong Jaya.
"PBAPP deeply regrets any inconvenience caused. We would like to advise all affected consumers to kindly store sufficient water for use on Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morning," he said. — Bernama
