SANDAKAN: The unity of the people must be preserved as it is another factor towards developing the state, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said the harmonious atmosphere among the people in the state existed due to the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect.
"This is important to enable the government to focus on carrying out development needed by the people no matter where they are.
"Together we maintain and strengthen the long standing unity for the wellbeing of the people and development of the state," he said at the leader meets the people session at Kampung Sungai Obar here today.
At the event, Musa, who is also Sungai Sibuga assemblyman, handed over wheelchairs that were donated to six recipients.
He said efforts to reach out to the people also continued to be a priority to the government through programmes involving government leaders going to the ground at the state and federal levels.
This was important to enable problems and requests by the people to be heard and resolved through the best approach, he said.
"As chief minister, besides administrating the state government, I will get opportunities to meet with the people, especially through programmes organised at the grassroots level," Musa added. — Bernama
