JOHOR BARU: A restaurant helper claimed trial in the Sessions Court here today to charges of sending indecent photos through Whatsapp to a 28-year-old yoga instructor three years ago.
Nadzri Md Noh, 37, from Pontian, pleaded not guilty for the five charges under Section 233(1)(a)of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000 or a one year jail term or both, upon conviction.
He allegedly committed the offences between Dec 29 and Dec 31, 2014. He was said to have sent the indecent photos he obtained from the internet and photos of his own penis photos to a telephone number which he obtained from a yoga training class advertisement.
The charges stated that the woman received three of the pornographic messages when she was at home in Taman Pelangi Indah, Ulu Tiram, and twice when she was at a yoga centre in Taman Molek.
Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Prosecuting Department director Mohd Sophian Zakaria offered a RM3,000 bail for all five charges, citing the case as being of public interest.
Bail was fixed at RM3,000 and Sept 13 was set as the mention date.
