JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested two men who posed as enforcement officers to rob their victims.
Johor Baru Selatan (JBS) district police chief ACP Shahurinain Jais said the two suspects, aged 30 and 36, were arrested when they posed as police officers to rob an Indonesia man at Jalan Kebun Teh, Larkin at 8.10pm on Aug 20.
He said the duo were involved in at least eight cases since January.
"In previous cases, the men also posed as SPAD enforcement officers and Immigration officers. Their modus operandi is to inspect their victims and then rob them of their valuables," he said.
Shahurinain said the duo operated in the Larkin area.
He said following reports lodged by the victims, an intelligence unit from the Larkin police station mounted a surveillance on the suspects.
Shahurinain said police managed to corner the suspects during the Aug 20 attempted robbery.
He said both suspects tested positive for drug use and have previous records for drug related crimes.
The duo also used fake guns, knives and police vests when committing the robberies.
