CYBERJAYA: About 3,000 people are expected to participate in the "Run For Water" event organised by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) in conjunction with its 10th anniversary, to be held at Taman Tasik Cyberjaya on Nov 12.
SPAN chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Ridhuan Ismail said the maiden initiative by SPAN, with its concept of a fun run, would bring the commission closer to the public and enhance its branding.
He said there were two categories in the run, namely the six-kilometre run and the three-kilometre family (three-person) run. So far about 1,000 entries have been received.
"We want to educate the public because many people think SPAN is a water operator like Syabas. But SPAN monitors the national water services industry in licensing and operating aspects in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan.
People who register online for the run at www.dreamedge.jp.runforwater before Aug 31 will enjoy discounts of RM70 (of RM90) and RM35 (of RM45).
Registration will close on Oct 9. — Bernama
