Long wait over for boxing gold

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's eight-year weight for a boxing gold in the SEA Games ended when the national contingent clinched one gold, one silver and a bronze today.
On the final day of the boxing events in the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre here, Muhamad Fuad Mohd Redzuan ended the wait when he defeated Thani Narinram of Thailan in the final of the light flyweight (49kg) category.
The bronze was shared by Lasavongsy Bounpone of Laos and Huynh Ngoc Tan from Vietnam.
The silver was contributed by Adli Hafidz Mohd Pauzi in the light heavyweight (81kg) category. He lost 0-5 to Marvin John Nobel Tupas of the Philippines in the final.
Anavat Thongkrathok (Thailand) and Muhammad Dinie Hakeem (Singapore) shared the bronze.
Malaysia's R. K. Indran and Richard Oscar Laim (Indonesia) shared the bronze in the middleweight (75kg) category. Defending champion Eumir Felix Marcial (Philippijnes ) beat Pathomsak Kuttiya (Thailand) for the gold.
In the flyweight (52kg) category, Aldoms Sugoro (Indonesia) won the gold, Tanes Ongjunta (Thailand) silver while Mohamed Hanurdeen Hamid (Singapore) and Ian Clark Bautista (Philippines) shared the bronze.
Chatcai Butdee from Thailand. the World champion in 2013, won the bantamweight (56kg) category. Mario Fernandez (Philippines) took the silver while Vilaysack Chansamone (Laos) and Nat Siek Nin (Kemboja) shared the bronze.
Thailand's Wuttichai Masuk won the light welterweight (64kg) gold after defeating Sarohatua Lumbantobing (Indonesia), while Charly Suarez (Philippines) and Leong Jun Hao had to be contented with the bronze. — Bernama
