TANAH MERAH: The police will launch an investigation into claims by two boys over a kidnapping attempt by two foreign men in the district here last Saturday.
Tanah Merah police chief DSP Suzaimi Mohammed said the police were only alerted of the case after the families of the victims, aged nine and 11, lodged a police report two days later.
"The victims did not sustain any injury and the police have recorded statements from them. We will conduct further investigations," he told here today.
Meanwhile, the boys are still traumatised by the incident, especially after they were said to have leapt out of a moving car into which the two foreigners had earlier forced them.
The victims said the incident occurred about 5pm when they were playing football with two other friends in Kampung Cermin, Gual Ipoh near here.
"The strangers slowed down the car, called out to us and asked for directions to Kampung Bukit Telaga. Then, they invited us to show the direction. While entering the car, one of the men who was in the rear seat had already donned a mask," said one of the boys when met here.
It was learnt that the victims were trying to get out of the vehicle but one of the men immediately locked the doors and warned them to remain silent.
Subsequently, the boys unlocked the door and jumped out of the car when the driver slowed down the vehicle while passing by a bend. — Bernama
