Trump invites Najib for White House meeting on Sept 12

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak will meet President Donald J. Trump on Sept 12 at the White House, according to statements issued today by the Foreign Ministry and the United States Embassy in Malaysia.
The Foreign Ministry statement said Najib will make a working visit to Washington, D.C. at the invitation of Trump.
Malaysia and the United States look forward to celebrating the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties, it said, adding that the relations had been enhanced under Najib's leadership to a comprehensive partnership based on shared interests.
"The two leaders are expected to discuss areas of mutually beneficial cooperation including national security, the global fight against terrorism and extremism, and trade and investment that will benefit our nations and our peoples," it said.
The US Embassy statement said Trump looked forward to celebrating the 60th anniversary of United States-Malaysia bilateral relations and discussing ways "to strengthen and broaden our bilateral relationship and expand regional cooperation with one of America's closest partners in Southeast Asia". — Bernama
