KUALA LUMPUR: All parties must play their part in preserving and improving on what the country has in order to ensure that future generations enjoy peace and prosperity, said Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
She said there must always be a love for the country and its leaders to ensure that their sacrifices are appreciated.
"As Malaysians, we must learn from what has happened in other countries and we are proud with what this country, with its racial and religious diversity, has.
"We want to give the best so that future generations can benefit, and in conjunction with National Independence Day 2017, I hope the people understand this," she told reporters after launching the "Rasa Sayang" programme here today.
Mas Ermieyati said the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) international reserves amounting to RM431 billion now and the second quarter performance of the Gross Domestic Product at 5.8% proves that the national economy was stable, proving the opposition wrong when they said the country was bankrupt.
"Do not believe in rumours ... we must have faith in the nation's leaders because no leader wants to destroy the country," she said. — Bernama
